Welcome to the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) for the State of Maryland. The OAH was created by the Legislature to provide independent judges in all matters dealing with agency action in the State of Maryland. These judges, called administrative law judges, are obligated to provide citizens with a fair and impartial hearing. Their decisions are totally independent from the agencies for which they hold hearings. This hearing function, called due process, is intended to provide a fair and unbiased hearing opportunity for citizens affected by the actions of Maryland executive agencies. In addition to fairness, the OAH provides promptness and informality so that citizens are protected without the complexity so often associated with other judicial forums.
